Taylor Swift watches on as Travis Kelce equals incredible all-time Kansas City Chiefs record….see more
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end joined Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez, for most touchdown receptions in franchise history with 77.
Coming into the game, Kelce had 75, and had only scored once all season.
In a thrilling 16-14 victory over the Denver Broncos, Kansas City kept their perfect season alive, and Kelce caught his second touchdown of the year.
He now sits at the top of the mountain with Gonzalez, with the most touchdown receptions in Kansas City history.
Keep in mind, Kelce accomplished this feat as a tight end.
Making it that much harder.
Which goes to show you how special Gonzalez, also a tight end, truly was.
Hence the gold jacket.
Kelce joined Gonzalez and reaching the record with his Grammy-winning international pop star girlfriend in attendance.
Taylor Swift watched in her suite, as her boyfriend reached rarified air.
In a season that hasn’t always been too kind to Kelce, as his age has really started to show, the last couple of weeks have proven otherwise.
After a slow start to the year, Kelce has been more involved in the offense over the course of the last month.
The Chiefs are riding high at a perfect 9-0, while still not playing up to their usual loft standards.
Specifically, the greatest player on the planet, Patrick Mahomes.
He has had a rather subpar year, compared to what everyone is used to seeing from the Chiefs quarterback.
Of course Mahomes’ ‘subpar’ play is better than two-thirds of the entire league, so it’s not exactly a problem.
But it is a scary thought that Kansas City can be rolling through teams each week, and Mahomes isn’t even playing like vintage-Mahomes.
Nevertheless, they remain undefeated.
And that should be terrifying for the rest of the league.
Kelce still has eight games remaining in the regular season to take sole possession of the record and drop Gonzalez to number two.
In all likelihood, that’s going to happen.
It’s not a question of if he’ll do it, it’s a matter of when he’ll do it.
