Andy Reid Retirement Off the Cards as Chiefs Offer Extension Regardless of Super Bowl Result: Reports
Kansas City head coach Andy Reid has an important weekend ahead of him. The 65-year-old will be heading into his fifth Super Bowl outing with the Chiefs and will have his eyes set on the title. However, while many believed Reid might call the curtain on his decorated career following the ongoing season, it seems like the head coach still has a lot left in the tank just yet. According to the latest reports, the KC Chiefs head coach is set to receive a contract extension with the side irrespective of the results this weekend.
Multiple sources from the league have claimed that Reid is amongst the most underpaid head coaches in the competition and is long overdue for a raise. The KC Chief head coach currently makes $12 million per annum ranking him at the 10th spot amongst the highest-paid head coaches.
According to NFL insider Jonathan Jones, “With a win today, Andy Reid would have half as many Lombardis as the rest of the active head coaches combined. Why a raise and extension — and not retirement — could be in Reid’s immediate future this off-season.”
