As 100s of Taylor Swift Fans Get Tattoos, Travis Kelce’s Mom Calls It “Defacing the Body”
The tattoo parlors of Melbourne saw an influx of Swifties getting inked as Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour hits Australia. Tattoo artists and fans have been sharing social media posts about designs inspired by the singer’s songs. As fans stand in hour-long lines to get inked with their idol’s references, there is one mother figure connected to Swift who isn’t a fan of the general idea.
Donna Kelce has supported her son’s relationship throughout, and was spotted with Swift on multiple occasions. One particularly heartwarming moment was when the duo waited, holding hands, to congratulate Travis Kelce after his win in this year’s Super Bowl. A conversation on the Kelce brothers’ podcast with their mother led to the subject of tattoos, and Donna had some interesting things to say.
Donna Kelce “isn’t into tattooing”
In a conversation with their mother, the Kelce brothers joked about the trend of fans wanting their idols to sign their babies. Travis asked Donna’s stance on the matter, “As our mother, do you support signing babies?” To the lighthearted banter, Donna laughingly replied, “Dolls, yes,” but was against the idea of giving autographs on real babies.
The mother of two further said that she doesn’t like the idea of even using marker ink on the body. Donna further shared that she isn’t a fan of people getting inked. She said, “I don’t think you should ever even put a Sharpie on an adult. I’m not into tattooing.”
Donna further described the process as “defacing the body.” This opinion of Donna is quite intriguing, considering the tattoo frenzy among Swifties in Melbourne at the moment.
Although the singer wrote the lyrics of her songs on her arms during one of her tours, it was mostly for remembering a good line and less so for aesthetic purposes. When asked what design she would prefer if she had to, Swift answered that it would be the number 13 before reinstating, “I don’t want to get a tattoo.” Swift holds the number 13 close to her heart and feels that it brings good luck to her.
“I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks. My first No. 1 song had a 13-second intro,” the singer had expressed in an MTV interview.
It seems like Donna’s strong views against tattoos will not be a problem for the popular couple! Swift started dating Kelce in September last year, and the couple has been going strong ever since. While the singer is often seen cheering for the Chiefs star from the stands, the NFL star recently flew to Sydney to meet Swift on her Eras tour. A testament to the love and support they share for each other.
