Donna Kelce on Why She Plans to ‘Take a Step Back’ This Super Bowl Week Compared to Last Year (Exclusive)

Kelce says she plans to “enjoy some of the fun of Vegas,” the host city of Super Bowl 2024, ahead of cheering on son Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs

For many, going to the Super Bowl is a once-in-a-lifetime experience… but not for Donna Kelce

The football mom is headed to the NFL Championship Game for the second year in a row (and her sixth overall!) to cheer on her son Travis Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs team on Feb. 11 in Las Vegas.

However, in comparison to last year’s Super Bowl — when the Chiefs went head-to-head against the Philadelphia Eagles, the team of Donna’s eldest son Jason — the NFL mother of two is taking a different approach to the sports scene this time around.

“This year I’m going to take a step back to enjoy it,” Donna tells PEOPLE exclusively ahead of Super Bowl Week 2024. “I get to enjoy it this time.”

In case you forgot, the spotlight was placed on Donna long before Taylor Swift (who’s dating Travis) was involved. The amplified attention on her first began around the 2023 Super Bowl, with particular interest in whether she’d be rooting for Travis of the Chiefs or Jason of the Eagles.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid shatters the silence with a fiery statement defending quarterback Patrick Mahomes: FULL STORY back-patrick-8ns0lu-yen123-d74897af6ade “What’s happening to him is a crime against football — a blatant betrayal of everything this sport stands for. How can people be so cruel? Criticizing a 30-year-old man who’s carried this entire franchise on his back, shows up every single week, gives everything he has, never asks for attention, never blames anyone — just tries to win for the Kansas City Chiefs? To me, Patrick Mahomes is one of the greatest quarterbacks this league has ever seen — and instead of tearing him down every time the team struggles, people should be standing behind him.” — Andy Reid
