Lilibet’s godfather gives blunt two-word response to Harry and Meghan’s US move….see more
Actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry, known for his roles in films like Star Trek and PAW Patrol: The Movie, is recognised in the UK mostly as a close pal of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Tyler supported the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by offering them his Beverly Hills mansion when they relocated to the US in 2020 following their departure from Royal duties.
Yet, Princess Lilibet’s godfather reveals that he didn’t feel the need to offer them advice during this time.
Speaking to the Sunday Times, when asked how he helped them prepare for their USA move, he said plainly: “I didn’t.”
Tyler elaborated: “Meghan is from California.
She knows California well.
So there was nothing to prepare them for.
“I will say this: what I learnt about mentioning them? Because there’s this insatiable appetite to know all about them?”
Dismissing rumours of discord between Harry and Meghan, he told E! News:
“They love each other.
They have a beautiful family and I just want the best for them.”
While he expressed feeling “honoured” to be Lilibet’s godfather, he admits he had some doubts.
He recalled: “I called them back and said, ‘Uh, hold on a second-does this mean we gotta go over [to the U.K.] and do all of that in church with [the Royal Family], and figure all that out? ‘Cause I don’t wanna do that’.”
Instead, he proposed an alternative, more low-key approach: “Maybe we can do a little private ceremony here [in the USA] and let that be that, and if you have to do it there, then that’s OK.'”.
It comes after Prince Harry opened up about his time in the US in a rare public interview.
Speaking to Andrew Ross Sorkin at the New York Times’ Dealbook Summit last week, he said: “I very much enjoy living here and bringing my kids up here.”
