NFL Shares Drake Maye, Patrick Mahomes Development on Sunday

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs look to secure a third straight win in Week 8, hosting Marcus Mariota and the Washington Commanders on “Monday Night Football.” The Chiefs are coming off a 31-0 blowout win over the Las Vegas Raiders, a game where Mahomes completed 26-of-35 passes for 286 yards and three touchdowns.

But before the Chiefs capped off Week 8 on Monday night, Drake Maye and the New England Patriots extended their winning streak to five games with a 32-13 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, improving to 6-2 on the season. Maye completed 18-of-24 passes for 282 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception, finishing with a passer rating of 135.8.

Maye, 23, has now extended his streak of games with 200 or more passing yards and a passer rating of 100 or higher to seven, a run that dates back to the Patriots’ Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins. The former North Carolina Tar Heels standout has also now tied Mahomes for the longest such streak ever by a player under 24 years old.

Mahomes accomplished the feat during the 2018 NFL season at 23 years old, his first as the Chiefs’ starting quarterback, which also happened to be his first MVP campaign. He recorded his seven-game streak from Kansas City’s Week 6 loss to the Patriots through its Week 13 win over the Oakland Raiders.

Mahomes and the Chiefs will face the Commanders on Monday at 8:15 p.m. ET. Meanwhile, Maye and the Patriots look to extend their winning streak in Week 9, hosting the Atlanta Falcons.
