Taylor Swift fans are upset because resale ticket prices have increased by more than 80% with just weeks to go before the Eras Tour arrives in the UK
Taylor Swift is just a few weeks away from finally arriving in the UK to perform her highly-anticipated Eras Tour – but fans looking for last-minute resale tickets have reportedly hit some massive price increases along the way.
Taylor Swift fans are excitedly looking forward to the beginning of The Eras Tour next month, which will finally be kicking off in the UK.
Beginning on June 7, 2024, at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium, Taylor Swift will be bringing her extensive setlist which spans her entire musical career to stadiums across the country.
However, when tickets were originally released back in August 2023, they were all snapped up straight away, leaving many fans disappointed in the process.
Since then, fans have been fighting to purchase resale tickets from various reseller websites such as viagogo, Vivid Seats, Seat Geek and more.
But a new study has confirmed that – although Swifties have managed to consistently buy second-hand tickets – their prices have continued to skyrocket. And the prices are rising the closer the concert days get.
Online seat information website SeatPick recently gathered data on the most expensive resale tickets around the world.
While Scouting for Girls tickets jumped an average of 76 percent from £27.50 to £117.50, and McFly’s tickets rose 72 percent from £59.50 to £215, Taylor Swift came out on top.
Tickets for the American songstress’ upcoming British shows have shot up in price on resale websites by an incredible amount.
While The Eras Tour tickets’ face value began at £134, their second-hand prices have shot up in a big way.
Seatpick’s data suggest resale value has increased ticket prices by an average of 81 percent, placing them around the £704 mark per ticket.
However, not every resale ticket is priced this way. At the time of writing, there are some Wembley Stadium tickets available for just £432.
Considering the first show of the Eras Tour is just a few weeks away, fans have precious little time to get their last-minute tickets.
Sites such as viagogo and Vivid Seats allow fans to buy resale tickets from other fans. However, it is important to note that many event promoters say tickets should not be resold after initial purchase and will not be valid for admittance to gigs.
Fans attending live events with tickets acquired through resale websites are advised to double-check the ticket terms and conditions at the point of sale – such as Ticketmaster or Live Nation – to ensure a smooth live event experience. Tickets could be voided if they were found to be bought second-hand. As a result, fans are buying at their own risk.
With that said, viagogo also commented: “viagogo is a regulated marketplace where fans have the freedom to buy and sell tickets to their favourite live events, safely and securely, backed by a guarantee.”
