Taylor Swift ‘Loves the Game,’ Says Kansas City Chiefs Coach Andy Reid: ‘And Obviously Loves Kelce’

I’m happy for both of them,” the NFL coach said of the musician and tight end

Taylor Swift is getting some serious praise from Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid!

Ahead of the 2024 Super Bowl, Reid — who coaches the team that Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, plays for — spoke to SiriusXM NFL Radio about the pair’s relationship amid the football season.

“Listen, it’s a tribute to how she’s handled it, how Kelce has handled it. It hasn’t been a distraction, so there haven’t been any problems with it,” Reid said in a clip posted on X, formerly Twitter, seemingly referring to the attention that has been on the couple since they started dating last year.

“She’s a good girl,” he continued, adding, “She loves the game, and obviously loves Kelce. So I’m happy for both of them.”

Ahead of Sunday’s big game, speculation was rife as to whether Swift — who wrapped up four consecutive Eras Tour shows in Tokyo on Feb. 10 — would be able to travel to Las Vegas in time to see the Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

On Saturday, Gracie Hunt — the daughter of Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt — confirmed to PEOPLE at the Fanatics Super Bowl Party that Swift, 34, was indeed traveling to watch her boyfriend Kelce, also 34, play.

“She’s coming! She’s coming! We’re excited,” Hunt, 25, said

Reid’s recent comments aren’t the first time that the NFL coach has given the “Blank Space” singer a public shout-out.

Reid — who has aided the Chiefs to Super Bowl wins in 2020 and 2023 — spoke to Tom Brady and Jim Gray on their SiriusXM podcast, Let’s Go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gary, last month, revealing that he actually met Swift ahead of Kelce.

“Yeah, listen, she’s been great. I knew her before, from Philadelphia. Her dad [Scott Swift] played at [University of] Delaware and was a big football fan and good guy,” he said. “So I had met him there and her.”

Reid even joked that it wasn’t ideal for the tight end when Swift revealed her connection with Reid. “That was the last thing Trav wanted to hear, that I knew her before him,” he said. “She told him, ‘I know your coach.’ And he went, ‘Oh, God, come on!’

“When Travis Kelce arrived quietly at the private memorial service in Dallas, no one expected the Chiefs’ tight end to turn the somber gathering into a moment that would be remembered forever. ▶️ WATCH THE VIDEO: As Marshawn Kneeland’s father sat in the front row holding a framed photo of his son, his hands trembling, Travis approached — not as a football superstar, but as a teammate, a brother, and a man who understood the weight of loss. Placing one arm gently around Kneeland’s father’s shoulders, Travis spoke softly, his voice steady yet full of emotion: “Marshawn Kneeland wasn’t just a player on our team — he was the soul of it. His energy, his laughter, his fight… they’ll stay with us every time we step on that field.” For a moment, the chapel fell completely silent. Then Travis lowered his head, offering a quiet prayer. His words, unspoken yet deeply felt, carried through the room — a promise that Marshawn’s spirit would live on through the game he loved and the men who played beside him. By the time Travis stepped back, tears filled the eyes of teammates, family, and friends alike. In that small chapel, it wasn’t about football anymore. It was about brotherhood, grief, and the kind of love that refuses to fade — even after the final whistle.”
