Shannon Sharpe has snubbed Rob Gronkowski as the greatest tight end ever, as he revealed that he actually thinks Travis Kelce is the G.O.A.T. (greatest of all time) in his position.

Joining Sports Illustrated in a Q&A format in Las Vegas ahead of Super Bowl LVIII on Wednesday, the 55-year-old former Bronco and Raven explained why he thinks Kelce reaches the top of his list when it comes to naming the best who played in a position that he is also considered as one of the greats at.

‘Right now, for me, he’s the GOAT,’ Sharpe said of Kelce. ‘When you base it on what he’s been able to do, the longevity that he’s enjoyed – he has the most playoff catches.

‘He and [Chiefs quarterback] Patrick [Mahomes] have the most touchdowns between a duo.’

It’s just hard for me to say somebody has done it as good for as long,’ he said.

‘That’s no knock on any of the other greats, obviously. We know what [Gronk] has done… but Travis Kelce can match him stat-for-state, number-for-number, yard-for-yard. For my money, I got Trav’ one and Gronk’ two.’

Although Gronk’ never directly competed with Kelce during the regular season, he was a different kind of tight end with a more physical presence than the latter due to his rather large frame.

Standing at 6-ft-6 and weighing 265 pounds, Gronk’ was a more intimidating blocker than his Chiefs counterpart, who is an inch shorter and 15 pounds lighter.
